The journey begins in the heart of Prossedi. From here, you head toward Supino and then climb up to the beautiful, unspoiled Piana di Santa Serena. Once you reach the spring—the official starting point of the hike—you’ll find signs pointing to the various trails leading to the majestic cross on Monte Gemma.
The trail, classified as an E (Hiking) trail, forms a 6.5-km loop with a total duration of about 3 hours and 30 minutes. Our recommendation is to get the most out of it by following the ridge on the way out—to enjoy the sweeping, unobstructed views—and then returning through the dense, cool beech forest. Hiking this route is a stimulating experience: the key is to keep your eyes peeled and carefully follow the distinctive red-and-white markings on the rocks and tree trunks.
